The Rough Draft of the First Draft of History

The AG’s Circular Logic

Charles Krauthammer asks “What’s the point?” regarding the KSM terror trail:

So why is Attorney General Eric Holder doing this? Ostensibly, to demonstrate to the world the superiority of our system, where the rule of law and the fair trial reign.

Really? What happens if KSM (and his co-defendants) “do not get convicted,” asked Senate Judiciary Committee member Herb Kohl. “Failure is not an option,” replied Holder. Not an option? Doesn’t the presumption of innocence, er, presume that prosecutorial failure — acquittal, hung jury — is an option? By undermining that presumption, Holder is undermining the fairness of the trial, the demonstration of which is the alleged rationale for putting on this show in the first place.

Maybe that is the point, i.e. showing the world that our system is not superior.

Ken, the Bower in Chief sure makes that point. Designed to fail, simply brilliant.

  3. Mark T says:

You know, Travis, if KSM is found innocent, the folks at this place are going to shit bowling balls. Most, not you, OK Dave? They don’t want a trial.

  4. Steve says:

If he is found “not guilty” he is still going to be held indefinitely. So much for justice. This is nothing more than a show trial for the Obama administration.
