The Rough Draft of the First Draft of History

Is this a conflict of interest?

Gwen Ifill, who will be moderating the Vice Presidential debate, will soon release “The Breakthrough,” a book in which she will be “Taking the story of Barack Obama and extending to talk about a whole new generation of black policians…”

In fact, the book is set to be released around Inauguration Day.

Some have said that the media is so far in the tank for Obama, that this is the year journalism died. The fact that a clear partisan, with a personal stake in the outcome of the election (contrast her book sales under an Obama victory with her sales under a McCain victory), is allowed to “moderate” the VP debate leads me only to wait for the next shoe to drop. Maybe Obama can announce his hiring of Chris Matthews and Keith Olbermann now?

UPDATE: No one told the McCain campaign!  Can you say…”dirty pool?”

You mean they aren’t already on the payroll?

I, for one, have been underwhelmed by the cadre of advisors McCain has managing the details. IF Ifill plays dirty pool during the debates, it presents a golden opportunity for Palin to rise to the occasion and address the questions that should be asked to both Biden and herself. Play both roles and take charge! If she doesn’t…well, just roll up the carpet, return to Alaska, and phone in the rest of the campaign.

She can roll in a few of Reagan’s “well there you go again” each time Ifill plays favorites. The audience would eat it up.

  4. Yeah, Craig, like what magazines and newspapers she reads?? Oops. She couldn’t ANSWER that one. Palin is hilarious. The debate will be painful to watch. If Palin can remember enough sound bites, she might make it through. They might be able to wire here like they used to do to Bush.

I saw part of Palin’s debate for guv in Alaska. In it, she kept repeating the theme that she was the candidate of the 21st century, I guess because of her age. I wonder, is creationism REALLY a 21st century notion?

Larry, I look for Biden to steal the show when his mouth begins to speak before his brain is engaged. Should be great theatre.

Larry, go back to your monkey roots and start over, your evolution was not interrupted.
