New Job
I’m now under contract to be the editor of a new blog on National Review Online, called Battle ‘10. It’ll track elections in battleground states including Nevada, Colorado, Florida, Ohio and Pennsylvania.
This isn’t my first time being “boss,” but coordinating five writers in an equal number of states will certainly be a new experience. Of course, I’ll run my own campaign with the same vigor as before, but this may decrease my frequency as a writer here on ECW.
By the way, talk about a job that wouldn’t have been possible even a few years ago in Montana! Here I am in Clyde Park at the moment, and it wouldn’t matter whether I was in Great Falls or Wolf Point or Jordan. I’m able to do my job just as well as I would in New York, and of course at a much higher quality of life for me, and at less expense to my paymasters. Pretty cool, the possibilities of a world in which places like Opheim have fiber-optic cable and high-speed internet.
Update: Well, how do you like that? Battle ‘10 is apparently down at the moment, but I’m told it’ll be back up shortly.

w00t! Ain’t technology grand, Travis?
Travis,
Congrats! Keeping an eye on these states will be a full time job. God speed on this endeavor.
Congratulations, Travis.
Should work out great as this job winds down just before your new one starts.
“Here I am in Clyde Park at the moment, and it wouldn’t matter whether I was in Great Falls or Wolf Point or Jordan.”
Yeah, but Travis, can you get a pastrami on rye with a half-sour pickle in Clyde Park, Wolf Point or Jordan?
Yeah but does the job PAY anything? Or are you a volunteer? Good luck anyway. I look forward to reading what you have to say.
Thanks everyone.
Joe Blow, it does pay (around what a mid-career teacher makes in MT), and I realize how fortunate I am to be able to make a living off of my writing, editing, and mad HR skillz. Not everyone is so lucky.
Seems to me you have earned the moniker, “Boss K.”
That’s good.
