Montana’s Gubernatorial Embarrassment
This is, of course, not the first time Schweitzer has embarrassed Montana before a national audience. Recall his 2005 interview with the Washington Post bragging about how he got elected:
“In politics, it doesn’t matter what the facts are,” he said. “It matters what the perceptions are. It is the way you frame it.”
In Montana, he continued, the best way to frame an issue is to get horses and guns into the picture. . . . He learned that a significant percentage of Montana men are mule-headed, unwilling to change their minds on issues, even when presented with information showing their views are not supported by facts.“So, I started doing my ads while I was sitting on a horse or holding a gun,” Schweitzer said. . . .
Even if he thought this were true, why would a governor say such things about his own people and his own state in front of a national audience?

I had forgotten how he discussed his “god-given” political gifts with the reporter… and how his political trick was to “be self-deprecating” and not “be a know-it-all using a lot of big words,” ….
It is amusing to see he thinks he is self-deprecating as I don’t recall him ever doing that. He does try to use folksy words, and in the story he basically admits it is all an act.
what was most interesting is that the Washington post reporter tells readers stuff that the montana press won’t say, such as noting his “bottomless self-regard.”
I think your just a bit too obsessed with this governor thing. Ya he’s an idiot and he should probably be booted out of office but get over it already.
